In Thai food, beverage and carton packaging plants, countless conveyors are driven by small motors and geared reducers. Production managers often complain about the same issue: whenever the filler or palletizer stops, upstream and downstream conveyors roll back slightly, causing cartons and bottles to move backward. Operators have to catch products manually or stop the line to clean up, which reduces efficiency and increases losses.

One key reason is the lack of a reliable backstop at the gearbox output, or the use of loose ratchet mechanisms that rely on friction. For small gearboxes in the 0.75–3 kW range with output shafts around 25–30 mm, we recommend Suma CSK / CSK-2RS integrated one-way clutch bearings. Inside, a spring-loaded roller or sprag mechanism rotates freely in the forward direction and locks instantly in reverse, providing both radial support and backstop function in a single bearing.

For more compact conveyors in dusty environments, we prioritize Suma CSK-2RS sealed versions. Dual rubber seals effectively block fine particles such as flour, paper dust and sugar, while the pre-filled grease allows long-term operation at normal temperatures, reducing maintenance frequency. For Thai equipment manufacturers, upgrading to CSK-2RS on existing gearbox platforms is straightforward: simply replace the standard bearing in the output end cap, with almost no design changes required, and the drive gains a reliable one-way backstop.

Field experience shows that after adopting Suma CSK bearings, conveyors no longer exhibit noticeable rollback during short stops, changeovers or shift breaks. Cartons and bottles stay in position, and operators no longer need to “chase products” along the line.
